JEE Main 2026 April 7 Live Updates: Question Paper Analysis, Answer Key

Yes, candidates can appear for both BArch and BPlanning. They must meet the eligibility criteria for both courses. 

No, calculator is not allowed inside the exam. Candidates will be provided rough sheet to do calculations. The rough sheet must be returned to the invigilator after the completion of the exam.

Blank paper sheets for rough work of A4 size will be provided in the JEE Mains exam hall.

Important instructions for candidates:

• Candidates must write their name and Roll Number at the top of each of the sheets.
• After the exam, they must return the sheets in the designated drop box without fail, before leaving the exam hall. Failure to do so may result in a non-evaluation of your answers.

As per the pattern, JEE Main 2026 Paper 2 will be conducted online except the drawing part of BArch which is offline as a pen-paper-based test. The BArch paper consists of 77 questions, 25 from Mathematics, 50 from General Aptitude and 2 from Drawing. The BPlan paper consists of 100 questions, 25 from Mathematics, 50 from General Aptitude and 25 from Planning.

The marking scheme for JEE Main paper 2 can be checked below -

• For correct answer - 4 marks is awarded 
• For incorrect answer: -1 mark is deducted

The reporting time is 1:00 pm for students appearing for JEE Mains 2026 7th April paper.

The question paper of BArch and B.Planning is available in following languages - English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

For JEE Mains B.Arch and B.Planning, the total time duration of the exam is three hours, and 3.5 hours for BArch and B.Plan (combined).

For B.Arch, total number of questions is 77 and for B.Planning is 100 questions.

Paper 2B in JEE Mains is for BPlanning. It also focuses on the same subjects as Paper 2A, just the drawing section is replaced with Planning-based questions. It consists of 100 questions (all CBT) for 400 marks.

Paper 2A in JEE Main stands for BArch. JEE Main Paper 2A focuses on  Mathematics, General Aptitude, and Drawing. It features 77 questions for a total of 400 marks. While Mathematics and Aptitude are online (CBT), the Drawing test is conducted offline with pen and paper.

Candidates appearing for JEE Main Paper 2A, 2B and both must carry the following documents to the test centre -

1. Admit card along with filled in Self Declaration
2. Two passport-size photo
3. Any one photo ID proof among: valid School Identity Card/ PAN card / Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (with photograph)/ e-Aadhaar with photograph/ Class 12 Board Admit Card with photograph/ Bank Passbook with Photograph.
4. Medical certificate (for PwD/PwBD candidates to avail scribe service)

The question paper of JEE Mains 2026 Paper 2A consists of - Mathematics (Part-I) and Aptitude Test (Part-II) in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode and Drawing Test (Part-III) in Pen and Paper Based (offline) mode, to be attempted on a drawing sheet of A4 size

 The exam timing for JEE Mains 2026 BArch & BPlanning paper is 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. On the other hand, students who are appearing for JEE Main 2026 Paper 2A and 2B both, will be given 30 minutes extra to attempt the exam. Thus, the exam timing for JEE Main 2026 April 7 (Paper 2A & 2B) is 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
