JEE Main Exam Analysis 2026: National Testing Agency conducted Joint Entrance Examination Main 2026 for BE and BTech in two shifts today. Second Shift of JEE Main session 1 concluded at 6 PM. Based on initial feedback of students, JEE Main Jan 28 shift 2 exam was moderate, with Mathematics as most challenging section. Maths has been rated moderate to tough, while physics and chemistry were moderate.Â
In JEE Main Jan 28 shift 1, too, students said that the exam was moderate. The candidates found Maths the toughest, physics and chemistry were moderate. As per schedule, JEE Main paper 2 for BArch and BPlanning will be held tomorrow in single shift.Â

JEE Main 2026 Jan 28 Shift 2 Overall Difficulty: Moderate to Challenging
As per students feedback, JEE Main shift 2 paper maintained overall difficulty level as moderate.
Mathematics: Candidates repeatedly reported that the Mathematics section was lengthy and calculative. Many found it the toughest part of the entire paper.
Physics: Rated moderate, though some questions were demanding in application and concept.
Chemistry: This section was also rated moderate by many students.Â
Coaching Institutes and JEE Main 2026 Answer Key
Soon after JEE Main shift 2 ends, many coaching institutes releases unofficial JEE Main session 1 answer keys and memory based questions with solution. These are shared by major institutes like Sri Chaitanya, Resonance and Aakash to help students check their performance. However, JEE Main official answer key is expected to be released by first week of February 2026.

No, NTA has not announced any change in JEE Main 2026 exam pattern. However, NTA made changes in JEE Main exam pattern in 2025. As per the current JEE exam pattern, the total number of questions in JEE Main Paper 1 (BE/BTech) are 75, 25 each from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Also, there are no optional question in section B in any subject. Students will need to answer all 5 questions in section B from all three subjects. The marking scheme and total marks remain the same.
