Delhi University Teachers Demand Bihar Governor’s Action on Patliputra University Crisis

Teachers’ associations from DU have written to Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, citing corruption, financial irregularities, and governance failures at Patliputra University. They demand the removal of the Acting Vice Chancellor and immediate steps to restore academic normalcy.
A group of teachers from Delhi University and its affiliated associations have written to Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, urging his immediate intervention in the affairs of Patliputra University (PPU). The letter highlights allegations of corruption, financial irregularities, and an atmosphere of fear within the institution, demanding the removal of the Acting Vice Chancellor from his additional charge.
The protest letter, signed by former Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) president Aditya Narayan Misra and several members of DU's statutory bodies, alleges that the academic environment at PPU has been severely compromised. The signatories claim that arbitrariness and misgovernance have led to unrest, ultimately affecting thousands of students.
The letter points to serious accusations against the Acting Vice Chancellor, including charges of financial impropriety. It notes that even the university's Registrar raised corruption allegations during the last Senate meeting. There are also claims of irregularities in the promotion and transfer of teachers and principals. The teachers have called for an independent and time-bound inquiry into the matter and urged that the Acting Vice Chancellor be relieved of his additional responsibilities immediately.
Additionally, the protest letter strongly condemns the alleged use of abusive and coercive language by an elected representative of the ruling party during the Senate meeting on April 3, 2025. The signatories argue that such actions undermine the integrity of the university’s highest statutory body and insist that the dignity of the Senate must be upheld.
The signatories include Rajpal Singh Pawar (Member, Executive Council, DU), J.L. Gupta (Member, Finance Committee, DU), Mamta Chaudhary, Tej Narayan Ojha, Ram Kishore Yadav, Pawan Kumar (Members, Academic Council, DU), and Anand Prakash, Deonandan Kumar, and Bimalendu Tirthankar (Members, Executive, DUTA).
The letter underscores the urgency of the situation and calls for decisive action from the Bihar Governor to restore academic normalcy at Patliputra University. The teachers’ associations await a response, emphasizing the need for swift intervention to protect the university’s academic and administrative integrity.
