IGNOU Announces Process to Create DEB ID for Students Willing to Enrol for ODL, Online Courses; Details

As per the direction of the University Grants Commission (UGC), DEB ID is mandatory to create by learners who wish to enrol in an ODL/ Online programme.Â
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has released the guidelines for creating a DEB ID. DEB ID is a mandatory step for students who wish to enrol in an ODL/ Online programme at the university. The university notified that DEB ID shall be created by all learners as per the UGC guidelines. The DEB ID is a unique number which will be provided by the university to each student taking part in the university for Open, Distance Learning and online programmes.Â
"As per the directions of the University Grants Commission (UGC), DEB ID is to be mandatorily created by a Learner who wishes to enrol in an ODL/Online Programme. Thus, for admission in any of the ODL/Online Programmes offered by IGNOU, DEB ID is mandatory. Please note that DEB ID is a unique number, and you need to create it only once." Reads the official notification.Â
The purpose of the DEB-ID is to ensure that learners are taking admission in the Open and Distance Learning/Online programmes of the Higher Educational Institutes (HEIs) which are recognized by the Commission. Students can produce an ABC ID through their Digilocker account.
How to Create DEB ID for IGNOU Admission?Â

Once the ABC ID is created, students have to submit in the box 'R' and follow the instructions to create a DEB ID using the email ID and mobile number.Â
