O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) has significantly expanded its academic partnerships with Japan by signing 8 new Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with top universities, bringing its total Japanese collaborations to 23.
The agreements, formalized during a high-level JGU delegation visit to Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Fukushima, and other cities in June 2025, mark a milestone in India-Japan academic diplomacy.
The new MoUs were signed with Asia University (Tokyo), Chuo University (Tokyo), Doshisha University (Kyoto), Higashi Nippon International University (Fukushima), Kansai University (Osaka), Musashi University (Tokyo), Osaka Gakuin University (Osaka), and Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. These institutions join JGU’s existing partners, including University of Tokyo, Hiroshima University, and United Nations University.
The partnerships facilitate student and faculty exchanges, joint research initiatives, and collaborative conferences, aiming to foster cross-cultural learning and innovation. They reflect JGU’s commitment to building robust, long-term academic ties that support intellectual exchange and address global challenges.
Professor C. Raj Kumar, JGU’s Founding Vice Chancellor, stated, “These 23 partnerships are a testament to our vision of fostering educational innovation and global dialogue. They strengthen India-Japan relations through higher education.” Professor Akhil Bhardwaj, Vice Dean and Director of International Relations, added, “These collaborations, grounded in mutual respect, create opportunities for student mobility, research, and cultural exchange, enhancing academic ties.”
The milestone was celebrated at a dinner hosted by India’s Ambassador to Japan, Sibi George, at India House in Tokyo, attended by senior leaders from Japanese universities. He praised JGU’s efforts, noting, “Education is the cornerstone of India-Japan ties. JGU’s partnerships will shape future strategic leadership.”
JGU’s growing network aligns with its mission to internationalize Indian higher education, contributing to India’s global academic presence through research, student development, and cross-border collaboration.
