NIFT Entrance Exam 2026 will be conducted tomorrow for the UG and PG programmes. The exam will be conducted at the test centres. The exam will be in two shifts for NIFT GAT and NIFT CAT.
NIFT Entrance Test 2026
NTA will be conducting the NIFTEE 2026 Stage 1 Test on February 08, 2026. The exam will be held offline at the centres. NIFT Stage 1 GAT will be conducted in computer-based mode and NIFT CAT will be conducted in paper-based mode. The reporting time is 8 AM and the gate will close at 9:30 AM. The exam will begin at 10 AM. It is mandatory to bring NIFT Admit card and photo ID proof to the exam centre.

What is permitted in NIFT Exam Hall?
Candidates are permitted to carry only the following items with them into the examination centre.
- Personal transparent water bottle,
- Ball Point Pen/ Pencil / Erasers / Ruler (In a transparent pouch)/ A-4 Transparent Acrylic Board.
- Admit Card downloaded from NTA website
- Additional 02 passport-size photographs for pasting on the Attendance Sheet
- Original valid ID proof
What's Next After the NIFT Entrance Exam?
After the NIFT Entrance Exam, NTA will release the Provisional Answer Key for NIFT Stage 1. Along with the answer key, it will also open the objection window. Candidates will be able to raise objections against the answers given in the NIFT Provisional Answer Key. The dates for the release of the NIFT Answer Key is not announced yet.

Marking Scheme of NTA NIFT Exam 2026
Check out the marking scheme of NTA NIFT Paper 1.
i. Each question carries 01 (One) mark.
ii. For each correct response, the candidate will get 01 (One) mark.
iii. For each incorrect response, -0.25 mark will be deducted from the total score.
iv. Un-answered/un-attempted will be given no marks.
v. To answer a question, the candidate needs to choose one option as the correct option.
vi. However, after the process of Challenges of the Answer Key, in case there are multiple correct options or change in key, only those candidates who have attempted it correctly
as per the revised Answer key will be awarded marks.
vii. In case a Question is dropped due to some technical error, full marks shall be given to all the candidates irrespective of the fact who have attempted it or not.

NIFTEE Written Exam 2026: Stage 1
NIFT written exams comprise the Creative Ability Test (CAT) and the General Ability Test (GAT). The GAT paper is mandatory for all courses. However, only B.Des and M.Des candidates need to take the CAT.

NIFT Entrance Exam: When?
NIFT Entrance Exam 2026 will be conducted tomorrow, on February 08, 2026 for all the programmes. The exam will be held at the NIFT Entrance Centres in 102 cities.
It is recommended that the candidate make NIFT sample papers a part of their exam preparation strategy from the very beginning. For one, it will help the candidate evaluate their progress, hone their problem solving skills, and get a taste of the types of questions that will be asked in the entrance exam. Since at the start, most of the NIFT syllabus will be untouched, the candidate may focus on the topic they are preparing at that moment. In addition to the sample papers, the candidate must also keep solving the problem Sets given at the end of the chapter or end of the book. It is also important that the candidate keeps a close tab on the exam pattern and syllabus when solving the sample papers.

The exam pattern for NIFT GAT varies from one course to another. The total number of questions asked in NIFT GAT is mentioned below: BDes: 100 questions, BFTech: 150 questions, MDes: 120 questions, MFTech: 150 questions, MFM: 150 questions. Note that the GAT or the General Ability Test will be conducted in a computer-based mode. Questions will be objective-type. The GAT paper for the B. Des and M.Des programs will be of 120 minutes. However, the GAT paper for the B.FTech, M.FTech, and MFM courses will be for 180 minutes.
