The Supreme Court of India has stayed the Delhi High Court's directive to the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) to revise the CLAT-UG 2025 merit list. This interim order was passed by a bench comprising Justice B R Gavai and Justice A G Masih while issuing notice on a Special Leave Petition challenging the High Court's April 23 decision.

CLAT Revised Result 2025 (SOON) LIVE: Date, Link to Download CLAT Scorecard, Counselling Dates

CLAT 2025 Result: The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) was expected to release the CLAT 2025 Revised Results soon, following the Delhi High Court's verdict on petitions challenging errors in the CLAT UG 2025 question paper. However, in a significant development, the Supreme Court of India has stayed the Delhi High Court's directive to the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) to revise the CLAT-UG 2025 merit list. This interim order was passed by a bench comprising Justice B R Gavai and Justice A G Masih while issuing notice on a Special Leave Petition challenging the High Court's April 23 decision.

The Supreme Court's stay means that the Consortium is not required to implement the High Court's directive until further notice. This decision brings temporary relief to the Consortium and adds a layer of uncertainty for candidates awaiting the final merit list. The matter has been listed for hearing on May 5, 2025, and the Consortium of National Law Universities has stated that it will be seeking expedited adjudication of the case.

The  Delhi High court had earlier reserved its verdict after concluding final arguments on April 9, following extensive submissions from both the petitioners and the consortium. It is important to note that petitions related to CLAT PG 2025 remain pending and will be heard separately.

CLAT PG 2025: Delhi HC to Hear Postgraduate Petitions Separately

The Delhi High Court bench, led by Chief Justice D.K. Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, is conducting an independent hearing on the petitions challenging the CLAT PG 2025 answer key. These petitions pertain specifically to admissions for postgraduate law programmes and are being considered separately from the undergraduate-related matters to ensure focused adjudication on issues unique to the PG exam.

What is the difference between CLAT Revised score and rank?

The CLAT score is the total number of marks a candidate secures in the exam, based on correct and incorrect answers (1 mark for each correct, -0.25 for each wrong). The CLAT rank, on the other hand, is the candidate's position in the overall merit list compared to other test-takers. While the score reflects individual performance, the rank determines admission eligibility, as NLUs allot seats based on ranks. Even with the same score, two candidates can have different ranks due to tie-breakers like age or marks in legal aptitude (for PG). Thus, score measures performance; rank decides admission chances.

CLAT 2025 Revised Result Live: Factors Affecting CLAT Cutoff

The CLAT 2025 Revised Cutoff will depend on various factors like:

    • Number of Test Takers: A higher number of candidates can lead to increased competition, potentially pushing cutoffs higher.
    • Seat Intake at NLUs: The number of available seats at each NLU has a direct impact. Fewer seats can drive the cutoff higher, especially for popular universities.
    • Exam Difficulty Level: If the CLAT 2025 paper was tough (as raised in several legal petitions), cutoffs may be relatively lower due to lower average scores.
    • Candidate Categories: Cutoffs vary significantly across categories — General, OBC, SC, ST, and EWS — with reserved category candidates typically having lower cutoffs.
    • Overall Performance Trends: The average and top scores achieved by candidates also play a role. A high-performing batch could push cutoffs upward.
