CAT 2020 Registration will end on September 23 and the shift timings have been announced. More changes in CAT exam pattern is expected to be announced.
The CAT 2020 registration process is all set to conclude on September 23 at 5:00 PM. The candidates who are yet to apply for the exam must fill the online CAT application form before the deadline as the last date will not be extended further.
CAT 2020 registration process began on August 5 and was scheduled to end on September 16, but due to difficulties faced by students in obtaining the academic record due to COVID-19 lockdown, the deadline was extended.
Also announced was change in CAT exam pattern to comply with social distancing protocol during the exam. The duration of the CAT 2020 has been reduced and the number of test slots have been increased. More changes in the CAT exam pattern such as marking scheme and number of questions is expected to be announced anytime soon.
Four Key Changes in CAT Exam
Exam duration reduced: The duration of CAT exam has been reduced from 180 minutes to 120 minutes. Sectional-time limit has been reduced from 60 minutes to 40 minutes for each section.
Exam slots increased: The number of exam slots has been increased from two to three. This has been done keeping in mind the safety guidelines for COVID-19 at the CAT exam centres. Since the number of exam cities have not been increased; the exam authorities may need to allow lesser number of candidates to appear at a centre so that the social distancing guidelines are followed. The CAT 2020 exam will be conducted in the following slots.

Choice of test cities: This year, CAT aspirants can select up to six cities for exam centre location. Till last year, the number of choice was limited till four.
Change of test city preference: This year, the authorities will allow CAT 2020 aspirants to change their preferred test city during the form correction process. The CAT form correction process will begin after the CAT registration process concludes.

CAT 2020 Registration Process: How to Apply?
Aspirants can apply for CAT exam 2020 on the official website IIMCAT. Check the CAT 2020 registration process below:
- Open the official CAT website in a new window (iimcat.ac.in)
- Click on CAT 2020 registration
- Enter name, date of birth, email ID, phone number and nationality
- Click to generate OTP
- An OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number
- Verify registration by entering the OTP in the given field
- After verification, login in again using the CAT ID
- Enter fields with required information
- Upload scanned photograph and signature
- Select MBA programmes and IIM institutes
- Select cities as preference for CAT exam centre
- Make fee payment via net banking or credit/debit card

CAT 2020 is scheduled for November 29 and the CAT admit card will be issued on October 28. IIM Indore, the CAT convening body will release CAT video tutorial soon for candidates to familiarize themselves with the changed CAT exam pattern.
