XAT 2023 exam is all set to be held on January 8. XLRI Jamshedpur has shared important information related to the exam pattern. As per the latest information, the duration of XAT 2023 will not be 190 minutes but 210 minutes, which means, candidates will get 3 hours and 30 minutes to solve the paper. The examination authorities have increased the time limit of Part 1 by 10 minutes. It has introduced a Mock Keyboard Testing for 5 minutes which forms the Part 2 of the test. GK and Essay Writing section will be Part 3 of the paper and of 30 minutes. Earlier, this section was on 25 minutes.

Candidates who are appearing for the exam this Sunday (January 8 ) must check the following key points regarding the latest XAT exam pattern.

XAT 2023 Question Paper Pattern and Structure

  • XAT will be conducted in computer-based mode. The medium of XAT 2023 question paper will be English
  • All the multiple-choice questions (MCQs) will include five options with one correct option.
  • The XAT question paper 2023 will have a total of 105 questions.
  • The XAT 2023 question paper will consist of three-time bound parts:

Candidates have to choose 1 out of 3 topics. The essay should not exceed 250 words.

 

XAT 2023 Marking Scheme

  • Marks for every correct answer: +1 mark
  • Negative marks for every incorrect answer: -0.25 mark
  • Negative marks will be awarded for every unattempted question after 8 unattempted questions: -0.10 mark
  • Negative marking does not apply to General Knowledge questions
  • Essay will be evaluated if a candidate is shortlisted for the GD/PI process at XLRI.
  • PwD candidates will get extra time of 20 minutes per hour.

XAT 2023: Exam Duration and Onscreen Timer

  • The countdown timer at the top, right-hand side of the test screen will display the time remaining, time available for candidates to complete the examination in time bound manner.
  • On completion of 175 minutes, the timer will reach zero and Part 1 will be locked. The candidate will be moved to Part 2 and then Part 3, i.e., General Knowledge & Essay section of the XAT question paper 2023.
  • PwD candidates will be allowed to submit their answers at any point of time between 175 minutes to 240 minutes for Part 1 and between 30 to 40 minutes for Part 3. So, a PwD candidate can leave the test lab between 210 minutes and 280 minutes depending upon the completion time of the test.
