The second edition of the XLRI Jamshedpur Emerging Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award (XL-JESEY 2025) concluded successfully on February 9, 2025, honoring outstanding social entrepreneurs who have shown exceptional commitment to creating social change. The award, hosted by the Centre of Inclusiveness at XLRI Jamshedpur, aims to spotlight social entrepreneurs who use innovative, sustainable business models to address critical social issues.

The focus of XL-JESEY 2025 was on "Novel Approaches in Women Entrepreneurship", recognizing individuals whose initiatives empower women while tackling pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges. This year's award emphasized gender equality, inclusive development, and the transformative role of women entrepreneurs in shaping society.

Winners of XL-JESEY 2025

The prestigious XL-JESEY 2025 award was conferred upon three remarkable women entrepreneurs whose work has made significant strides in their communities:

  • Premlata Poonia, Founder of Hamari Laado, was awarded for her relentless dedication to girls' education and women's empowerment in rural India. Through Hamari Laado, she has created educational programs, mentorship opportunities, and skill development initiatives to help marginalized women achieve economic independence.
  • Anuradha Richhariya, Managing Director of Lalitpur Mahila Kisan Producer Company Limited, received recognition for her efforts in empowering women farmers. Her organization focuses on enhancing access to markets, financial literacy, and sustainable farming practices, significantly improving the livelihood of female farmers.
  • Aruna Tirkey, Founder of Ajam Emba, was honored for her work in reviving indigenous cuisine and empowering tribal women through sustainable food entrepreneurship. By promoting traditional culinary practices, she has provided employment opportunities and created a model for preserving cultural heritage.

Social Entrepreneurship Conclave (SEC-8) Highlights and Discussions

The XL-JESEY 2025 awards ceremony was the centerpiece of the eighth edition of the Social Entrepreneurship Conclave (SEC-8), organized by the SIGMA-oikos committee at XLRI Jamshedpur. This event brought together over 150 attendees, including students, industry leaders, and social entrepreneurs, to discuss the theme of "Women Entrepreneurship & Inclusive Growth".

The conclave featured a keynote address by Roopa Roshan Sahoo, IAS, Revenue Divisional Commissioner for Southern Division, Berhampur. She shared insights on policy frameworks, challenges, and opportunities to foster an equitable entrepreneurial ecosystem for women in India.

    Moderated by Smt. Manasmita Jena, Executive Council Member at SVNIRTAR, this panel delved into how corporations and policymakers can drive meaningful change. Esteemed panelists discussed corporate policies, leadership representation, and the need for accessible funding for women entrepreneurs.
  • Panel 2: Driving Innovation Through Women-Centric Entrepreneurs
    This session, featuring industry leaders like Premlata Poonia and Usha Paliath, explored how innovative business models can cater to the unique needs of women. Discussions focused on overcoming barriers, using technology to scale women-led ventures, and the importance of mentorship.

Therefore one can say that the XLRI - Xavier School of Management is good for MBA under XAT. The pros of taking admission at XLRI are many. The college is accredited by AMBA, AACSB, and NBA and is approved by AIU, AICTE, and GOI. Due to the accreditation and approval, the XLRI degree is valid all over India. Hence, placements are guaranteed. One of the cons is that not every student can get admission to this college. Only the ones who have prepared in advance can get admission.
