Panjab University admit cards for appearing in the semester examinations will have a list of dos and don'ts about COVID-19 apart from the roll numbers of students. According to the reports, the Panjab University controller of examination branch is in the process of designing the admit cards with pictorial support on how to visit the exam centre. Parvinder Singh, controller of examination, Pl.-I, said, “Conducting an exam during a pandemic is a tough task. The authorities are taking steps to make the students and supervisors aware of what are the precautions they have to take before and after entering the examination centre. He said this time the date sheet would carry details of COVID-19 standard operating procedures which will be sent to colleges and chairpersons of the departments.”

While the authorities of the University are busy exploring and planning ways to conduct the examinations, student parties are up with disagreements. A report on why they do not want exams to be held in July is submitted to the University by NSUI. Nikhil Narmeta, president, NSUI, said, “Girls' hostel numbers 8 and 9 have been converted into isolation wards for Covid-19 patients. The ICMR guidelines have mentioned that no isolation ward can be safe after being vacated for at least 28 days with regular sanitisation.”

Panjab University Students Union (PUSIJ) also conducted an online survey among 18,000 students about the exams. Sharing the results, PUSIJ leader Gurmehak Sandhu said, “93% of students felt that they would be exposed to the virus if they travel far from home, 90.8% believed their mental health was being affected by the abrupt decisions of the administration, 91.7% said social distancing was not possible in hostels and on campus, 87.6% said they did not have the online material to prepare for exams and 86% believed PU was compromising on the quality of education and focusing only on examinations.”
