The Union Minister of State PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space Dr Jitendra Singh delivered a keynote at “India@75: The Road Ahead”. He said that the next 25 years will be crucial for India and the Civil Services in India. He said that the Civil Service will act as a catalyst to bring change in Indian society.
He said that the academic curriculum for the Civil Service in Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy for Administration (LBSNAA) has suitably changed to suit the needs of changing India. The future of India will require less government and more governance.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that the functioning mode of the civil servants should shift from ‘Rule to Role’. Quoting a slogan given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Minister said that “development must become a Jan Andolan using Science & Technology in its most upgraded form”. The Union Minister outlined the importance and benefits of three months mentorship course offered after the Civil Service training.
The Union Minister praised the achievements of the nation in achieving the goals concerning UNDP targets, UNFCC targets and utilising most efficiently the resources at disposal. He also reiterated the benefits of demographic dividend which India can gain in the coming years.
He again re-emphasised the importance and key points of Mission Karmyogi, launched by the Union Government last year. He stressed that the Civil Servants will be the policymakers of the future and they must incorporate the principles of welfare government with less government and more governance in mind.
On the occasion, he also underlined the reforms undertaken by the central government in the recruitment process of Group C and D services. He said that by doing away with the interview process for all these posts; the government made the process smooth and corruption-free. The change in syllabus in LBSNAA will have a considerable impact on the questions asked in the Civil Service Main Exam. The IAS Prelims 2021 exam is scheduled to be conducted on October 10 and the main exam 2021 will be conducted in January 2022.
