The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has conducted IBPS PO 2021 mains exam on January 22. The exam was conducted for candidates who have qualified the prelims exam. According to the feedback provided by students, the overall paper was moderate in terms of difficulty level. As per as the section-wise difficulty level is concerned, the English section was easy, however, this year new types of questions based on word interchange were asked in the exam. The Reasoning section was easy. The General Awareness section was easy and maximum questions on current affairs were based on the events that took place in December 2021. There were also questions in current affairs from the events that happened in September 2021. The questions in Banking Awareness were analytical and inference-based.

The Quantitative Aptitude section was the toughest among all the sections and was a bit calculative. The descriptive section was easy where candidates were given to write an essay on-β€˜Is Technology Boon or Bane’. In the letter-writing section, candidates were asked to write a letter to the manager asking for the bank statement. Students said that the sectional cutoff of the Quantitative Aptitude section would go down.

IBPS PO 2021 Mains Exam Pattern

The mains exam of IBPS PO consisted of both objective and descriptive type tests. The objective test was divided into four sections-Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness, English Language, and Data Analysis & Interpretation. The descriptive section carried questions from English Language (Letter Writing and Essay). The duration of the test was 3 hours 30 minutes with sectional timings for the objective test. The total marks allotted to the test are 225. The structure of IBPS PO 2021 mains exam is given below.

IBPS PO 2021 Mains Exam Analysis & Student Reaction

Mohit said, β€œThe GA was good, but the DI was lengthy and tough. Reasoning was good and English was easy. The topics asked in the descriptive section were easy. One topic of letter writing was-write a formal letter to the editor of a newspaper regarding the restoration of historical monuments and their maintenance. The topic of essay writing was modern technology. In Quant, questions were asked from DI (bar graph, pie chart, and missing numbers) and the rest of the questions were from Arithmetic. In English, there were few new types of questions.”

Ravi Singh said, β€œI found the GA section to be a difficult rest of the sections were doable. Two DIs were easy and one from them was based on pipe and cistern.”

Ritesh Kumar Mehta said, β€œThe mains paper of IBPS PO was moderate. Especially, the Reasoning section was a bit difficult. The other sections were quite doable. The overall difficulty level of sections was moderate. In Quant, questions were asked from DI (three questions), work and time, speed, ratio and proportion, etc. In GA, questions were based on the events that happened in November and December 2021. There were questions based on the events that took place in September 2021. In the Descriptive paper, the letter-writing topic was-write a letter to the manager asking for a bank statement. In essay writing, one question was asked about modern technology affecting life.”

Rohan said, β€œThe Quant section was tough and calculative. There were no questions on simplification, inequality, etc. There were questions on puzzles. The Reasoning section was moderate to tough. English was easy. In GA section, there were mostly questions on current affairs based on the events that took place in December 2021 and January 2022. In English, there was a new type of questions on word interchange.”

Nikhal said, β€œIn English, questions were mostly from the Reading Comprehension section. There were no questions on Synonyms and Antonyms. In Quant, there were questions on profit and loss, time and work, DI, puzzles and arithmetic puzzles. In GA and Banking Awareness, questions were mostly asked of Economics. In current affairs, most questions were asked from December 2021 events.”
