How to Become a Scientist in ISRO: A Step-by-Step Guide for Aspiring Students
Check the whole process given below to become a scientist at ISRO:
- First of all, choose the right Science subject in Class 12. Choose subjects related to space technology, research, and innovation. It will lay a strong foundation for this career. The most important subjects you must choose at the school level are the Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Computer Science.
- After you complete your schooling, next you must choose the right BTech Degree. It can be in Electronics and Electrical Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering.
- For choosing right BTech engineering, you should appear in the competitive exams like JEE exam that offers admission to IITs, NITs. JEE exam has two parts, first you need to clear the JEE Mains and then the JEE Advanced.
- Once you complete your undergraduate degree, you can appear for the ISRO Centralized Recruitment Board (ICRB) Exam. This test is conducted by ISRO for the recruitment of the engineers and scientists. They conduct this exam annually. For appearing to this exam, one should have a minimum of 65% marks (for general category students) in B.Tech or BE degree in the relevant field (Aerospace, Electronics, Mechanical, etc.). This exam has two parts - written test and an interview.

1. MSc to Scientist Role
If you have completed your B.Sc. or MSc with a specialization in physics, mathematics, or electronics, you can apply to ISRO’s scientist positions after completing your MSc. However, you need to score high in the MSc that is a minimum of 65% marks for candidates from general category.
Relevant Fields include MSc in Physics in Space science, astrophysics, and astronomy/ MSc in Mathematics in Applied mathematics, computational science, or mathematical modeling/ MSc in Electronics-specializing in electronics, systems engineering, or satellite communication.
