Yes, you can. Just follow the procedure of your state for admission under lateral entry scheme.

There are different ways of joining IAF. But joining it does not mean that you will become an aeronautical engineer. You can also appear for the NDA entrance exam conducted by UPSC. After graduation, you can appear for CDS exam conducted by UPSC. And if you are already an engineer, then you can join an engineering branch of IAF.

the eligibility for AME is 10+2 with PCM. Hence, if you have done Diploma after 10th then I am afraid, you are in trouble unless the college offering AME accepts Diploma as equivalent to 12th. Cut offs for admissions differ from state to state for different branches of Engineering. In many states, if you have a valid score, you are sure to get admission in some college.

The cut off marks of 10th for admission to Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering branch differs from state to state and also widely in the same state from year to year. But one is passionate about this branch then it is hoped that about 80% marks would surely get admission.
