In India, employment opportunities for aeronautical engineers is actually not much. On the other hand, there are plenty of opportunities for employment in airlines after the completion of aircraft maintenance engineer course. Hence, I would advise you to follow this.

An aeronautical engineer can be employed as a design engineer in R&D facilities. He can be employed in armed forces for the maintainance of the aircraft. He can be employed in a factory for production job also.

If you want to work on the airside of the airport then you need a licence from DGCA. However, if it's non-airside job then one does not need DGCA licence. There are plenty of jobs for both mechanical & aeronautical engineer in airside as well as on non-airside areas.
