You can seek lateral admission or treat Diploma as equivalent to class 12th, you can seek admission in the 1st year of engineering in many colleges.

If you want to work on the airside of the airport then you need a licence from DGCA. However, if it's non-airside job then one does not need DGCA licence. There are plenty of jobs for both mechanical & aeronautical engineer in airside as well as on non-airside areas.

An aeronautical engineer can get a job in armed forces, can appear for civil services exam, in organisations where R&D on aviation is taking place or even in a factory which is producing components or assemblies of airborne objects. You can even go abroad for MS or can think of doing MBA also.
