Hello Kaveri,
This institute has great reputation and due to this only they have been able to spread their presence in many states in India. Aerospace Engineering, unfortunately, does not have too many options for placements in India. In addition, typical government organization like DRDO or ISRO have their own exam. But, four years from now, I am sure there will be enough opportunities for placements in this branch.

The two types of aerospace engineers include aeronautical engineers (They work with aircraft that stay within the earth's atmosphere such as airplanes and helicopters.). And, astronautically engineers (They work with aircraft that operate outside of the earth's atmosphere such as rockets, satellites, and other and spacecraft.). A degree in aerospace engineering should cover them both. As for the future, it is hard to say. According to the US Occupational Outlook Handbook, employment for aerospace engineers is expected to grow about 5% from 2010 to 2012 which is a little slower than average.

Hello Abhijit,
MIT is a very old name in academic circle if Pune. Now, it has turned into a deemed to be university. This institute is well known for excellent faculty and results. Placements actually depend on economic condition of the country. I am sure in four years from today, placements in this branch will be good.

Hello Kathan,
Your query is quite okay. Actually, aerospace is the name of the industry that deals with aero products and the field of study is called as aeronautical engineering. For working in space, one needs to be an astronaut. Presently only pilots are selected to be astronauts. However if you want to work on spacecraft then you should join ISRO.

Hello Preyas,
IIT Bombay is the most preferred choice of students for this branch. For general category one must have rank of 800 or better and for your category you must have rank of about 250.
