Part 1 Consists of - MATHEMATICS
Algebra: Definitions of A. P. and G.P.; General term; Summation of first n-terms of series. Arithmetic/Geometric series, A.M., G.M. and their relation; Infinite G.P. series and its sum.
Logarithms: Definition; General properties; Change of base.
Matrices: Concepts of m x n (m 3, n 3) real matrices, operations of addition, scalar multiplication and
multiplication of matrices. Transpose of a matrix. Determinant of a square matrix. Properties of determinants (statement only). Minor, cofactor and adjoint of a matrix. Nonsingular matrix. Inverse of a matrix. Finding area of a triangle. Solutions of system of linear equations. (Not more than 3 variables).
Trigonometry: Trigonometric functions, addition and subtraction formulae, formulae involving multiple and submultiple angles, general solution of trigonometric equations. Properties of triangles, inverse trigonometric functions and their properties.
Coordinate geometry
3-Dimensional Co-ordinate geometry: Direction cosines and direction ratios, distance between two points
and section formula, equation of a straight line, equation of a plane, distance of a point from a plane.

GENERAL APTITUDE - Objects, texture related to architecture and built environment. Interpretation of pictorial compositions, Visualizing three-dimensional objects from two-dimensional drawing. Visualizing different sides of 3D objects. Analytical reasoning, mental ability (visual, numerical and verbal), General awareness of national/ international architects

Part 2 - DRAWING TEST
Understanding of scale and proportion of objects, geometric composition, shape, building forms and
elements, aesthetics, colour texture, harmony and contrast. Conceptualization and Visualization through
structuring objects in memory. Drawing of patterns - both geometrical and abstract. Form transformations in 2D and 3D like union, subtraction, rotation, surfaces and volumes. Generating plan, elevation and 3D views of objects. Creating 2D and 3D compositions using given shape and forms. Perspective drawing, Sketching of urbanscape and landscape, Common day-to-day life objects like furniture, equipment etc., from memory.

Placements in architecture, though they exist still are pretty rare. So, mostly 'No'.
You need to apply directly to the firms that you want to work with and hope that you get an interview call and if everything goes well, you'll be able to grab the desired job.
Nowadays, most universities are having some form of placements, they are still in their infancy and hardly two or three companies will come looking for candidates. In most cases, these companies will be project management companies such as L&T or large scale developers such as Sobha builders.
As a fresher, it may not always be a good idea to join such large-scale offices because you might miss out on learning the basics of architecture and construction.
In any case, make sure you are understanding the kind of job profile these companies offer before signing up for any kind of campus placement.

Industrial Design Centre was established in Mumbai IIT in 1969. It was very visionary decision to have this along with premier IIT. It was established primarily to encourage the study of industrial design which is of vital importance for a country on the path of industrialisation. Presently, this department offers different courses and also facilities for research also. The biggest advantage for this school of design is its co-location with IIT. Excellent academics and close interactions with industry have made placements for these professionals a very simple exercise. It's a problem of plenty with students able to choose or reject. Co-ordination with industry, updated syllabus, the latest tools required and futuristic outlook. All these factors have made this design centre and its students most sought after by the industry.
