The prospectus of architecture is more in private jobs and in your own independent work. The government generally give contract to companies.
Naval architecture, Urban planning, Rural planning are few of the things you can explore, if you wish to join government services.

Hi Pramay,
You must complete your HSC with mathematics as a compulsory subject, overall your grades must be good. You can check the NUS admission requirements page for the international student as requirements vary. SAT or ACT might be required. Check the particular department website for admission FAQs, shortlisted candidates are generally required to sit for the architecture admission test.

Please specify your country preference as B.Arch has different requirements in every country and is very competitive too. You need a good product design and a portfolio to show your ability in the course.

If you want to join military engineering services (MES), it is advisable to pursue B.Tech or Diploma in engineering. There are ample of vacancies available for technical entrants in the army.

Civil engineering and architecture are different fields which cannot be compared as such.
Architecture is more of creativity and civil is the application part of that creativity, so I think which one is better depends on your interest and caliber and should be chosen accordingly.
I would prefer civil engineering over architecture in the current scenario in terms of scope in government sector.
