The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Chennai accepts the General Ability Test (GAT) for admission to its B.F. Tech program. NIFT also accepts CAT scores for admission to its B. Des program. 

To be eligible for B.F. Tech, candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as a main subject from a recognised institute. The qualifying age is 24 years as on August 1 of the year of admission. For candidates of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribe/ Persons With Disabilities (PWD), the upper age limit may be relaxed by a period of five years. 

Des in Fashion Design was 484 for General All India category students. In 2022, the last round closing rank was 617, and in 2021, the cutoff rank was 743 for NIFT Chennai B. Des in Fashion Design. Therefore, to secure admission to this course, candidates should aim for a rank between 400 and 750.

B.FTech course at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Chennai costs INR 12.77 lakh. The course is four years long and is offered full-time.

NIFT Kolkata offers admission to its Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech) programme through entrance exams and counseling. The institute conducts a national-level entrance exam comprising Creative Ability Test (CAT), General Ability Test (GAT), and Situation Test. For admission to BFtech, MFM, and MFTech programs, applicants need to appear for GAT only. Additionally, some colleges consider candidates based on the merit of qualifying examinations. For undergraduate admissions, applicants should not exceed 24 years of age (29 years for SC/ ST/ PWD category students) as of August 1 of the admission year.

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Kolkata has a 100% placement record for almost every year. The average package is between INR 71,000 to INR 3.6 Lacs per annum. The median salary starts from 4 lacs, and there have been instances where students have been offered the highest salary of INR 16 lacs.

Nift has a centralised placement process. Companies can opt for on-campus placements by registering for Nift Patna placements or companies can offer jobs to students before the on-campus placements, this is known as pre-placements offer (PPO). Nift Patna offers a good package in B.Tech.  Its placement rate is 75-80% of students got placed. the highest package offered was INR 4.5 LPA. Notable companies participating in the placement drive included Mantra, Levi's Aditya Birla Group, RIL, and Shahi Exports. 

The exact number of students enrolled in the B.FTech programme at NIFT Kolkata is not available. However, NIFT Kolkata offers various undergraduate, postgraduate, and Diploma courses in the field of fashion and design, with a total of 6 specializations in B.Des and 1 specialisation in B.FTech 5 . The B.FTech programme at NIFT Kolkata is offered in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) and focuses on apparel production
