The location of the employment may also have an impact on the pay for graduates with a BTech in fashion technology. For instance, graduates who work in large cities like Mumbai or Delhi typically make more money than graduates who work in smaller towns.

Candidates meet the eligibility criteria to pursue a BFTech course if they have completed their Class 12 (in the 10+2 pattern of examination) from any recognised Central/ State Board of Secondary Examination with passing marks.

Apart from this, colleges also specify that in order to pursue a BFTech course aspirants should have studied subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at their 10+2 level. Candidates must also clear the entrance examination conducted by their desired college in order to pursue the BFTech course.

BFTech stands for Bachelor of Fashion Technology  and on the other hand BDes stands for Bachelor of Design. Although both Fashion Design as well as Fashion Technology are a part of the same stream. But there is a fundamental difference between the two. Fashion Design basically deals with creating new design pieces which can be anything like apparel, accessories or even a fabric.

On the other hand, Fashion Technology basically deals with applying Science and tech to make fabrics from the raw materials that are available in the market.

BFTech/ Bachelor of Fashion Technology is a UG Fashion degree. It focuses on aspects of the fashion like apparel design, textile technology, and management.

The course provides knowledge and skills to get into fashion and textiles industries. It covers areas like fashion design, garment construction, textile science, fashion merchandising, marketing and retail management.

After BFTech, either opt for a job or further studies. Some courses that you can pursue after are Masters of Fashion Technology (MFTech),  MDes in Fashion Design, Post Graduate Diploma in Fashion Design, etc.

Students who have passed Class 12 or its equivalent from a recognised board can apply for the course. At National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bangalore, students can pursue a four-year undergraduate degree in BFTech. The programme costs INR 5.6 Lacs for BFTech lateral entry and INR 12.3 Lacs for admission in first year BFTech course. Yes, admission to BFTech course at NIFT Bangalore is completely entrance-based. Students who have passed Class 12 or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognised board are eligible to apply for the course. The institute shortlists candidates on the basis score obtained by them in the entrance exam conducted by NIFT. The test includes General Ability Test (GAT). Interested students can visit the official website of National Institute of Fashion Technology to know more about the course.

Hello Ravi!

There is only one college in Chennai that offers B.Ftech. The college is the National Institute of Fashion Technology Chennai.

NIFT Chennai offers 4 years of B.FTech. in Apparel Production. There are 43 seats available for the course. 

To be eligible for the course a candidate must pass 10+2 with PCM as mandatory subjects. NIFT entrance exam is necessary. Selection will be based on the entrance exam and PI.

Candidate must have a maximum age of 24 years.

The fee for the course is INR 12.34 Lacs for the whole course.

The participating institutes of NIFTs offer a 4-year B.FTech programme. Admission to the programme is based on GAT scores. The NIFT 2025 GAT question paper for the programme will be of 180 minutes and will be bilingual. Candidates will have the option to take the exam either in English or Hindi.
