B.Tech Scope

Both IT and CSE are good. It is up to you to decide which subject you want to pursue, based on your interests.
IT is more of a professional track course. You are taught about systems and their functioning on a need to know basis. You are taught regarding the basic applications of a technology. It makes you an expert at the surface level of the tech, which will aide you to develop skills required at the industrial level. A good example would be a network administrator. You need to know about networking and some basic hardware and software rules. IT can teach you what you need to know about their functionalities.
Computer science and engineering on the other hand, is dedicated to both professional and research tracks. A computer engineer is someone who would have in depth knowledge about the hardware systems as well as the software systems. Although, computer engineers are often categorized with electrical engineers. As they are both dedicated to expertise in the hardware division, while having above average knowledge on theoretical or software division of computers. You will observe that most universities have a common department for CS and EE, e.g. EECS in MIT.

There are many good job opportunities available after completing B.Tech in biotechnology. After multimedia industry, biotechnology is ranked second as the growing sector with a tremendous employment potential.
After completing B.Tech, you can seek employment in leading Indian or multinational companies. You can apply for jobs in a range of industries dealing with pharmaceutical, chemical, bioprocessing and agriculture products. You are also eligible for opportunities in government research and development organisations. Some companies that hire biotechnologists are Hindustan Lever, Thapar Group, Indo American Hybrid Seeds, Bincon India Limited, Bivcol, IDPL, Indian Vaccines Corporation, Hindustan Antibiotics, Sun Pharma, Cadila etc.
Some job roles you can assume are Research Scientist, Research Associate, Marketing personnel, Business Development Officer, Sales Representative, Biotech Engineer and Lab Technician.

You can become IT project Manager with experience. You will start you career as a software developer or Tester after B.Tech CSE. Once you have experience and become proficient in software engineering, you may move up in the ladder as Team Lead, Project Leader and then Project Manager (PM). Even PM are of three categories Junior, Middle and Senior based on experience and number and type of projects executed and led. After PM you may progress to Program Manger and then on leadership role in IT companies. You may take about 8 to 10 years in Large IT companies and MNC before you get promoted to role of PM after B.Tech CSE. Exceptional performers can reduce this time period based on performance and requirements/ vacancies.

There are many specializations in which you can do your M.Tech after completing your B.Tech in civil engineering like:
1. Environmental engineering.
2. Structural engineering with specialization in offshore structures.
3. Pipeline engineering.
4. Computational fluid dynamics.
5. Health safety and environment engineering.
My personal choice is structural engineering as it has very good career prospects and job opportunities. To pursue this specialization, you can go for NIT - Calicut or UPES - Dehradun. It is having a pen paper test being held on 12th August, 2016 for on the spot admissions, which you can check on their website. Both of these are best bets and have good placements opportunities.
