Yes, you can get admission in NIT or IIT for M.Tech without qualifying GATE exam it is very hard but not impossible. As many IIT and NITs offer for biotechnology programme which is given as follows:
- IIT Madras
- IIT Kharagpur
- IIT Guwahati
- NIT Surath Kal

The part that you would have to take an entrance exam to B.Sc. or B.Tech. Biotechnology in an autonomous college is purely dependent on that particular institution. There is also a lot of autonomy in admission criteria and many autonomous colleges can establish their mar own admission criteria. Others might accept the students on the basis of their Class 12th merit (percentage in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics). Although many autonomous colleges, particularly those which are more competitive, do have their own entrance exams, or they take an entrance exam score like CUET, JEE Main (for B.Tech) or others, specific to an ins

St. Xavier College Mumbai is the only institute in India, which offers a B.Sc. in Biotechnology and Computational Biology, a 3-year undergraduate course (which is currently changing to 4 years course from June 2025 under NEP) and a 2-year post graduate course by name MSc in Biotechnology. They do not only provide a combined B.Sc.+M.Sc. course in Biotechnology. One can even do B.Sc., then on successful qualification become a candidate of the M.Sc. program.

The best colleges to study Biotechnology after class 12th in India with a good salary include IITs (i.e. Delhi, Kharagpur, Roorkee), VIT (Vellore), Amity University, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Manipal Academy of Higher Education and JNU. Normal admissions are taken on the basis of passing 12 th in PCB and in many cases PCMB and a score of at least 50-60%. To be admitted to most of the best colleges, you need to attend such an entrance exam as JEE Main (B.Tech), CUET, BITSAT, or any university-specific exam, and then you have a counseling

Yes, Calcutta University entrance exam is needed for admission to B.Sc in Microbiology or Biotechnology in Xavier's College although it is not the only entrance exam accepted but they also conducts their own entrance exam XET for admission to B.Sc course and more. Candidates must qualify one of these entrance exam because Admission is primarily based on entrance exam scores. For more information you can visit the official website of college.

You have to satisfy their entry criteria and pass their entrance examination- to get admission into the B.Sc. in Biotechnology course at JIS University. And you should have also appeared in an examination, the 10 + 2 from any recognised board with a minimum of 50% marks in the Science stream, Biology being a required subject, and any one of the two subjects could be Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science or Statistics. The main criteria of admission is passing JIS University Entrance Test (JET). Once you clear JET, you will have to go through online application form, verification of documents and payment of fees. Several excellent colleges in Mumbai offer programs in biomedical Science forensic Science and Biotechnology admission requirements vary by Institution and programme but generally include a strong academic record in relevant Science subject physics chemistry biology at the 12th grade level some colleges also require entrance exam or interviews

To apply for M.Sc. Biotechnology at Fergusson College, Pune, you must have a B.Sc. degree in Biotechnology or a related subject like Nanoscience/ Nanotechnology with at least 55% marks.
