Scope of Biotechnology for B.Tech students:
Any student who is contemplating on pursuing a career in Biotechnology must be aware that this field is still developing in India. Therefore, the number of job openings and pay packages are both very low when compared with IT and CS fields.
After a B.Tech degree, students can find jobs in pharmaceutical companies, research labs and institutions in India. However, most Indian students tend to go abroad to pursue their Masters or doctorate studies in Biotechnology and allied fields. Talking about on-campus placements, since the number of job openings is very less in Biotechnology, the number of companies coming for placements will be very less. Also, core companies only hire students from universities such as IITs, NITs etc. If your university is not reputed nationally or state wise, chances of any biotech or pharmaceutical company coming for placements sessions will be close to nil.

Scope of Biotechnology for B.Sc students:
If you are a B.Sc student in biotechnology or any other biological sciences related fields, it is highly recommended that you pursue your M.Sc. The job opportunities for B.Sc graduates in a highly research oriented field as biotechnology is very less and most students tend to pursue their M.Sc in Biotechnology or a specialized discipline of biotechnology. India is home to some excellent M.Sc programs such as JNU, DU, IISc, TIFR, IITs etc. With an M.Sc degree, most students tend to work in research labs and industries as research assistants. The pay package is also quite less for M.Sc graduates. Since India is still developing, it is highly recommended that you do your M.Sc in a reputed institution for good campus placements and job opportunities. If your university is not reputed, chances of any biotech company coming for placements will be zero.
Many M.Sc students tend to pursue their PhD degrees in Biotechnology or related fields as a PhD degree opens up more avenues both in India and worldwide. A PhD degree will give you the ability to start your own research lab, become a professor or head of the department in universities or be the lead for a team of research scientists.

Due to the opening of large pharmaceutical companies, the future in the field of pharmacy is bright. Numerous jobs are available for pharmacists in government as well as private organizations. After completing your studies, you can easily find jobs in pharmaceutical industries, government departments, colleges and universities, hospitals, investigation and research institute etc.
Pharmacists can practice in community pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, extended care facilities, psychiatric hospitals, and regulatory agencies. Sales & Marketing job sector also hire a huge number of pharmacy graduates.
One can also work in retail stores of medicines. After registering with the state Pharmacy Council, you can open chemist/drug shop and sell medicines as per doctors prescription.
On the other hand, the scope for biotechnology as a career option is immense as there are new applications and innovative products based on biotechnology today. Biotechnologists are at the forefront of the continuous search to find new, sustainable food sources.
They can work in various work environments like industrial sector, environmental sector, medical sector, food manufacturing, health-care and pharmaceuticals. Professionals in this field can specialize in one or more subfields like genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics. So, it depends on where your interest lies.

The eligibility condition for NEET 2018 exam are:
Nationality: Indian, OCI (Overseas Citizenship of India), PIO (Persons of Indian Origin), NRI & Foreign candidates can apply for NEET exam.
Age Limit: The minimum age limit is 17 years and the maximum age limit is 25 years (30 years for reserved categories) as or on 31st December of the year of admission.
Attempt Limit: Students can apply for three times for this exam.
Qualifying Exam: Candidates must have cleared the 10+2 or equivalent exam from any recognized board.
Appearing Candidates: Students appearing in the 12th examination can also apply.
Subjects: Students must have Chemistry, Physics, Biology & Bio-technology or any other elective subject with English in the qualifying exam.
Percentage: Candidates must have obtained at least 50% marks for general, 45% for general PH and 40% for SC/ST & OBC categories in the PCB group.
Aadhaar Card: For all Indian citizens, Aadhaar Card is mandatory to apply for NEET.
