The primary role of the cell is to prepare the students for placement opportunities, interviews, negotiations, etc. Further, for evaluating the placements' performance, one can refer to the NIRF report on the 2024 placement:
- The 464 UG, 4,015 PG, and 28 integrated PG students were placed in the academic year 2023.
- The median package for UG (3-year) courses was INR 9.20 LPA.
- For BTech and BA LLB courses, the median package stood at INR 10 LPA and INR 8 LPA, respectively.

The BTech stream-wise placement data has not been made public by the university. Based on the aggregate data presented in the NIRF report 2024, 199 students were placed at the Calcutta University BTech placements in 2023, out of 289 total. The placement rate is now 69% as a result. Previously, in 2022, 305 out of 357 BTech graduates found employment.

The University has not released the 2024 placement report or brochure yet. However, the NIRF report 2024 is out, which includes course-wise placement data for 2023. To download the report, students can visit the official website of the University and click on the NIRF link available on the homepage. The official website encloses the NIRF report for recent academic years. Click on the NIRF report 2024. Download and save it for future reference.

The separate data for Calcutta University MBA placements has not been disclosed. The NIRF report 2024 includes combined placement statistics for PG (2-year) courses. Out of 5,125 PG (2-year) graduates, 3,985 were placed during the University of Calcutta placements 2023. This makes the placement rate 78%. Earlier, 4,201 students were placed during placements 2022. The overall placement rate for PG (2-year) courses was 70% in 2022. The Calcutta University MBA average package is not out. However, the median package for PG (2-year) is out. The University is yet to release the 2024 placement data. Earlier, out of all the UG courses, the highest number of students were placed in BTech. On the other hand, PG (2-year) courses recorded the highest number of students placed during 2023 placements. Check the course-wise total strength and the number of students placed during Calcutta University placements 2023 from the table below:

From 2021 to 2023, a fluctuating trend was observed in the BTech placement rate. On the other hand, year-on-year growth was recorded in the median package offered to BTech students over the past three years.
