If you want to be industry ready and get a job after your studies you can go for a PG Diploma. If you want to have a career in research or teaching a Master's degree is suitable. admissions into Master's degree are very competitive.

I would say rewrite the exam. Based upon my survey done to get an admission into most of the Canada universities, overall band of 6.5 is required. I don't have any idea about the New Zealand.
