Yes, co-curricular activities always help. Try volunteering at some NGO as well to show social work on your CV. And improving CGPA is very important, so focus in that as well. You will also be required to appear for IELTS, so aim at scoring at least 7 bands overall so that your admission process is smooth.

Visit their websites and check the individual university admission requirements. You must take GRE and TOEFL or IELTS and to get into the top competitive universities you must score high. in NewZealand and Canada you are allowed to work 20 hours per week. In NewZealand after Level 7 program you will be given one year work search visa. once you get a job you will get two year work permit. once you get work permit you are eligible to apply for PR.
