There is no specific answer to this because MIT looks for students who can contribute to the university and the society as a whole. You must not only be an academically bright student you must also have high values, display ethics and passion to contribute to the society. Extracurricular activities, project work, sports, arts, voluntary work are very important. Just remember this - You need not be a bookworm but you are required to be an all-rounder and demonstrate your extraordinary side to the university. Ask yourself why they should admit you and prepare yourself accordingly. Read this carefully:

Your scores are not the only factor which will be evaluated by Ivy Leagues. They require all-rounder and not book worms. They look for students who will contribute to the university and the school. More than 95% is not mandatory at all, but if you do its good for you. An highly academic student that is a student with more than 95% may also be rejected if the university finds the student profile not so fit for the university. Go through these links, understand the kind of profiles they take in:

Scholarships in MIT are need-based that is offered basis your financial background. Quite obviously you will be considered for a scholarship once you have been shortlisted and you will need an extraordinary profile to be considered. IIT JEE Advanced is not even required. You must take the SAT and SAT subject tests and the TOEFL. Apart from a very high academic percentile in 12th you must have an all-rounder profile and must have good scores in the SAT and TOEFL.
