The GPA requirements at WVU varies for different courses, with the minimum GPA required for undergraduate admissions being 2.5 on a 4.0. scale. Some courses require a GPA of 3.0. or more for a seat.

Some admissions are also granted on a GPA of 2.0., depending on how well a candidate performs as part of a holistic assessment of its application & CV by the institute.

Students interested in merit-based scholarships need to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75 or higher, however, the institute does take into account some other factors such as past academic & non-academic achievements.

R1 universities are known for a high volume of research activity & expenditure. The institute granted more than 200 doctoral degrees & spent over USD 246 million on research based activity in the year 2023, of which USD 100 million came from federal agencies.
