As the eligibility for B.Arch is class 12th in any stream with mathematics and minimum 50% marks in aggregate or 3 years Diploma in any engineering stream with minimum 50% marks + for some institutes, you need to qualify in architecture aptitude test (NATA/ AIEEE/ SET).

Yes, if you're sure that you want to become an engineer then go for the Diploma and as far as mechanical or automobile goes, you need a very good basic in the subjects like SOM, TOM, Design, Fluid Mechanics, etc. So Diploma will help you. I am studying BE in ME and have done Diploma in mechanical and as far as I have noticed many students in my class find it difficult to tackle these subjects because it's pretty difficult to cover these subjects in one semester.

Sorry to inform you but a Diploma course is not considered equal to a graduation degree course.
You have to take admission for Bachelor's degree course.

Unfortunately, you have not mentioned about your subject in Diploma. Anyway. Normally, one should select a similar or related subject for doing graduation. In fact, if you are seeking lateral admission then it's a must but if you are treating a Diploma as an equivalent of 12th then you can choose any branch of engineering.
