B.Sc Engineering is now abbreviated as B.E/B.Tech is best. Because most of the people are doing B.E/B.Tech after doing the Diploma engineering courses for their career progression. Graduate engineers have big advantages over Diploma engineers in terms of employment opportunities like PSUs through GATE Private sectors and government. Jobs through UPSC etc. Hence I preferred B.E/B.Tech here.

Yes, you can get admission in BE through lateral entry admission. When you will take admission then you will know about course. In BE. /B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering), there are lots of subject. So, you will have to study all subject including Mechatronics.
