The distance courses doesn't really give you the practical knowledge. If you are a working professional and wants to take a degree, then may be distance education can be a good option. But, if you really want to gain knowledge, then I would suggest go for the regular studies.

Foreign language surely give you edge not only in resume or communicate with other person but also give you understanding of other countries culture and their life style and their nature too. Firstly, you need to choose which language you want to learn because currently there are few languages which are good in demand like French, Spanish, Japanese, German and Chinese and they offer classes in weekend mode too.
