JEE Main is conducted in two sessions, the first in January/February and the second in April. This helps students to appear in both papers if required and correct their scores. If you participate in both exam sessions, the system intelligently recognises your "Best of Two" scores and finalises your All India Rank (AIR). This structure is particularly beneficial for JNU BTech aspirants, as the limited seat capacity (126 seats) requires a very high percentile; having a second attempt in April allows you to refine your performance and meet the university's competitive cutoffs.

Once you have your JEE Main rank, you don't apply to JNU directly for a seat. Instead, you must participate in the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) or CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) counselling process. During this online window, you will list JNU as one of your preferred colleges. If your rank matches the university's cutoff, you'll be "allotted" a seat. After that, you'll visit the JNU campus for final document verification and to pay your admission fees.

While clearing JEE Main is a huge achievement, it's actually just the first hurdle for IITs. JEE Main acts as a qualifying test that allows the top 2.5 Lacs candidates to sit for JEE Advanced. To get into IIT Dharwad, your final seat allocation will be based strictly on your JEE Advanced rank. JEE Main scores are used for admissions to NITs and IIITs, but for any IIT, Advanced is the key.

Once the results are live in mid-June, the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counselling begins. This is the most critical phase where you'll list IIT Dharwad as your preference. The counselling runs through several rounds from late June to July. You'll need to be available during these weeks to freeze your seat, upload documents, and pay the seat acceptance fee online to lock in your spot.

Congratulations! After JEE Main, register for JEE Advanced, which is the only way to get into an IIT. This registration usually happens in late April or early May, with the exam itself scheduled for late May. This is a very tight window, so keep a close eye on the official portal right after your Main results are out to ensure you don't miss the deadline.

It starts with JEE Main registration, which opens around November. The first JEE Main session is held in January-February, you must keep your documents ready by the end of the previous year. If you miss the first window, don't worry, you can still register for the second session of JEE Main in April. Please note that most students prefer to attempt both to improve their scores.
