M.Tech. in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering) - Batch of 2024
4.8

The best top college in Pune.
Placements: There was no percentage limitation for placement. It totally depended on your skills and knowledge. The highest package was 10 LPA, and the lowest was 3 LPA. There were top recruiting companies. There was no need to fill any criteria for the job. The only criteria applied were for passing to the next semester.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure facility was very good. Wi-Fi connection, labs, classrooms, and the library were very excellent. The quality of food was very good and interesting. There were medical facilities in the college and nearby also. There were many sports activities, like badminton, cricket, dance, swimming, singing, and many more.
Faculty: Teachers were very excellent and knowledgeable. They were well qualified. Exams were conducted by their own body, which were moderate in level and a little bit tougher compared to other universities. There was a limitation on passing marks, 35 and above marks were required to pass.

The best college with best campus.
Placements: In my course, about 70-80% of students were placed this year. The highest package offered was approximately 12 LPA, and the lowest package offered was 6 LPA. The top recruiting companies for my course, i.e., Mechanical Engineering, were Bosch, Tata Motors, and UNO Mind. Approximately 70% of students were placed.
Infrastructure: Facilities were excellent, as the college campus was covered with full Wi-Fi. Classrooms were good, but some of them didn't have ACs. Still, classrooms were good, as the college had provided digital classrooms with proper projectors and screens. The campus also had a proper library for studying and doing all the stuff.
Faculty: Faculty was well-qualified, very helpful, and had very much knowledge. The quality of education they provided was very clear, and the course curriculum was relevant, making students industry-ready. The semester exams were not very difficult. If one pays attention in class. They could easily pass exams. The passing percentage was 70-80%.
Other: I chose this course because I had a much interest in electric vehicle engineering, and my college provided that course. We had proper EV labs in our college, along with proper faculty for those subjects. One area that could be improved is having more advanced labs with proper ventilation. Other than that, the college was very good at organizing events. Every year, the Persona event was held, and other than this spectra events were held every month. The campus was far better than other colleges in Pune. I would say the college was giving its full potential.

Dissatisfied with hostel but satisfied with campus.
Placements: Almost 70-75 percent of students got placed by the department. Many of them got jobs in non-core sectors, only a few were placed in the aerospace sector. Internships are provided passionately by the college to deserving students. Tata Aerospace and Mahindra are the major recruiters.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is very good and has many amenities like Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, a library, and other required amenities. The hostel only provides mess and accommodation; there is no scope for other amenities like sports, library, and other such things.
Faculty: The faculty members are highly qualified and experienced and mostly are doctorates in their own fields. They are pretty helpful for solving your questions. The course curriculum is relevant and makes students industry-ready. The semester exams are not very tough; almost 80 percent of students pass it.
Other: I chose this course because I have a keen interest in Aviation and want to make a career in it. Events and fests are regular in college.

Q:   How does the curriculum at MIT differ from universities like VIT or Symbiosis?
A:

MIT SOES tends to focus heavily on "industry-ready" skills and practical projects tailored to the Pune industrial belt. In contrast, VIT is known for a very fast-paced, competitive environment with a huge variety of electives, while Symbiosis often includes a mix of management and interdisciplinary subjects even in their Science programs.

Q:   Is the higher fee at MIT SOES worth it compared to more affordable options?
A:

It depends on what you value. If you want modern labs, high-tech infrastructure, and a more "corporate" campus feel, the premium at MIT might feel justified. If your main goal is getting a degree with a strong academic foundation without a heavy loan, institutes like Fergusson or Pune University offer much better "value for money."

Q:   How do the placements at MIT School of Engineering and Sciences compare to top government colleges like SPPU or Fergusson?
A:

While government colleges like SPPU have a massive reputation that attracts legacy recruiters, MIT SOES often provides more personalized placement support and grooming sessions. However, because MIT is private, you might find more "niche" tech companies visiting, whereas government colleges rely on their long-standing brand name to pull in the big giants.

Q:   Are there any discounts for EWS or NRI students in MSc at MIT School of Engineering and Sciences?
A:

EWS category students receive a subsidy that enables them to save between INR 65,500 and INR 99,500 over the two years as compared to general students. Depending on the specific program, these international candidates pay between INR 76,750 and INR 1,12,500 more than the standard Indian resident fee.

Q:   Does the fee change in the second year of MSc at MIT School of Engineering and Sciences?
A:

Yes, all MSc courses at MIT School of Engineering and Sciences include a planned fee increase in the 2nd academic year. For Indian residents, the second-year cost goes up by INR 3,500 to INR 10,000 compared to the first year. This incremental step is standardised across all categories, including EWS and NRI students.

Q:   What are the realistic placement prospects for an M.Tech at MIT School of Engineering and Sciences compared to other Pune colleges?
A:

MTech students have reported an average salary package of INR 6.5 - 7 LPA. The highest package was INR 60.5 LPA. Although this is an impressive average package for any private university, colleges like PICT Pune usually provide even higher packages for M.Tech in Computer Science.
