Engineering Entrance Exam

Your preferences academic strengths and career aspirations will all play a role in your decision between the JEE and Diploma engineering courses.

JEE and B.Tech (Direct Engineering): JEE is the greatest choice if you want to attend a renowned private university or one of the top engineering institutes such as IITs or NITs. It enables you to sign up for extensive four-year engineering programs that provide improved exposure research possibilities, and career chances. However it necessitates a high level of preparation and proficiency in maths and physics.

A Diploma in engineering is appropriate if you struggle with the competitiveness of JEE or desire a speedier path into technical school. You can enrol in a B.Tech programme through lateral entry (direct second year) after earning a three-year diploma. Although this alternative is skill-focused and economical, it restricts access to prestigious universities

Along with the qualifying exam criteria, you also need to score a minimum of 75% aggregate marks to be eligible to appear in JEE Mains 2025.

• The aspirant should have completed final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognised central/ state Board, such as CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education); CISCE (Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations) etc.
• Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognised Board or University.
• Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
• Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
• Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or in any foreign country recognised as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
• H.S.C. vocational examination.
• A Diploma recognised by AICTE or a state board of technical education of at least 3 year duration.
• General Certificate Education  (GCE) examination (London / Cambridge / Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
• High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
• Aspirant should have completed the class 12 or equivalent examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class 12 exam.
• In case the relevant JEE Main Qualifying Exam is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination at an earlier level.

Your chances of being admitted to NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs with an 87.20% JEE 67% in your 12th grade exams and 56% in PCM may vary depending on the cutoff and qualifying requirements of the particular institute Your 56% in PCM may raise questions because NITs and IIITs often to require a minimum of 75% in your 12th grade (or the top 20%ile on your board test) for eligibility.Although there is still fierce competition you may have some leeway in the cutoff because you fall under EWS category. Your eligibility will be determined by the particular needs of the institute for the current academic year but you can still apply through the counselling procedure

With an 82 percentile in JEE Mains, direct admission to the B.Tech in Computer Science at Shiv Nadar University (SNU) is unlikely. SNU does not offer direct admissions; candidates must qualify through either JEE Main scores or the Shiv Nadar University Scholastic Aptitude Test (SNUSAT) and Academic Proficiency Test (APT).
In most popular specializations, including Computer Science, the cutoff goes above 90 percentile. Your score would suffice the minimum eligibility criteria, but might not be good enough to get into competitive programs such as Computer Science in SNU. Apply via SNUSAT or improve your chances through strong academic credentials.
