With an OBC rank of 49,018 and a general rank of 147,000 in JEE Mains, admission to a National Institute of Technology (NIT) is unlikely. Generally, OBC candidates need to be within a rank of approximately 10,000 to secure seats in popular branches at NITs, and even lower-ranked NITs may have cutoffs around 30,000 for OBC candidates. Therefore, pursuing private universities or taking a drop year to improve your rank may be advisable.
