At the undergraduate level, Thapar University provides four years of full-time BE/BTech studies. With the exception of the BTech in Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering, admission to all BE/BTech programmes at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology is determined by a candidate's performance on the JEE Main entrance exam. Valid NEET 2023 scores are required for TIET BTech admission to biotechnology and biomedical engineering. The 2022 NIT Hamirpur - National Institute of Technology BTech in Computer Science and Engineering cutoff ranks, aside from the General category, are 17445 for OBC, 1663 for SC, 578 for ST, 16770 for EWS, and 187395 for PWD. The final cutoffs vary significantly according on the All India quota or home state, even though admissions are determined on JEE exam results and ranks. AKTU offers the BTech programme at the UG level in various specialisations. The university accepts , followed by the UPTAC Counselling for admission to its BTech programme. To be eligible for AKTU BTech admissions, the candidates must have passed Class 12 from any recognised board with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry/ Bio-Technology/ Computer Science/ Biology as main subjects. The university also accepts lateral entry admissions for the BTech programme.

The VITEEE is not the only factor considered for admission to VIT (Vellore). For BTech admissions, the Vellore Institute of Technology administers the VITEEE; however, for MBA programmes, it also takes into account national entrance tests like as CAT, XAT, MAT, GMAT, CMAT, ATMA, etc. In addition, admission to other programmes like BCA, BCom, MSc, MCA, BSc, BSc (Hons), and others is determined by the cumulative score on prior qualifying examinations or degrees (merit-based).
