IIT JAM and GATE Exam are national-level entrance exams for post-graduate programs at IITs, NITs, and IISc Bangalore. IIT JAM is a common entrance test for admissions in Masters courses such as M.Sc, Integrated Ph.D. , Joint M.Sc-PhD, and M.Sc-PhD Dual Degree whereas the GATE is a national-level exam that provides admissions to the master of technology programs such as ME, M.Tech, and Ph.D. courses. The IIT JAM Exam covers 7 subjects, whereas the GATE Exam covers 29. IIT-JAM Eligibility Criteria:
Bachelor's degree in Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics) for three years from a recognised university if you have appeared or are going to appear in the final year examination of a Bachelor's degree. There are no age limit criteria. Eligibility for GATE:
You should have a 4-year BE or B.Tech degree (after 10+2) or a 3-year Diploma in engineering, technology, architecture, commerce, or the arts. Candidates who have completed a 5-year degree programme in B.Arch. are also eligible for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering Exam. The organizing IIT also allows other degrees, such as an integrated degree in B. S. , M. S. , M.Sc, M.Sc. , or M.Tech. IIT JAM Exam Pattern:
Section A: Total Number of Questions and Their Type; 30 MCQ. Marking scheme:
1/3 of marks will be deducted For 1 mark question.
2/3 marks will be deducted For 2 marks questions. Section B: Total Number of Questions and Their Type: 10 MCQ. There is no negative marking. Section C: Total Number of Questions and Their Type; 20 Numerical Answer Types (NAT). There is no negative marking. Total Questions: 60. Total Marks: 100
GATE Exam Pattern:
Total number of questions: 65
Total Marks: 100
Types of questions: MCQs and NAT questions. Sections: General Aptitude, Engineering mathematics, and Specific Subjects. Marking Scheme:
1/3 of marks will be deducted For 1 mark question.
2/3 of marks will be deducted For 2 marks ques. No negative marking will be done for Numerical Answer Type questions. Validity of the Score Card: The validity of the IIT-JAM Scorecard is 1 year, while the GATE Exam scores are valid for 3 years from the date of announcement of the result. Currently I'm in final year in Government College Ajmer so I want to answer your question. Let's start according different point of views
Placements - There are a lot of students are not placed this year only a few Companies have visited this year even tcs also refused to come in this College. So don't expect about placement from here. Studies - Permanent faculty members comes daily in college only for their bio - metric attendance not for sharing their knowledge. Guess faculty members attend classes but they don't teach well. Only a few faculty members are good. So please don't expect to be A good Engineer from this college. Environment - In starting days of Engineering some students tries to create a learning and adaptive environment but when time passed they forgot that why they are doing Engineering. So not a good environment here. I will suggest you to join some better private College where you can learn good things and gain good knowledge of engineering for better placement or GATE preparation.

Yes, you can get a stipend without clearing a GATE exam. A list of Various scholarships program for M.Tech students:
1- Reliance Foundation Scholarship. A maximum M.Tech scholarship amount of INR 6,00,000 will be given to worthy students.
2- GLA University Admission Scholarship. A maximum M.Tech scholarship amount of INR 1,05,000 will be given to worthy students.
