For entering as a second-year admission in any stream for e.g. : mechanical engineering
You must have completed Diploma (which you have)
And you must attend an exam similar to KEAM entrance examination which have studied topics based on the mathematics, English and basics of every stream (I. e. civil, computer, mechanical, EEE, etc.)
You must at least score pass for entering public or private school
Achieving rank in this exam increases possibility to receive seats in government or government aided colleges.

Furthermore, the number of seats in medical colleges is much lower than in engineering colleges. Due to the lesser number of seats available in medical colleges and the high level of competition in AIIMS getting into a good medical college is challenging. Generally, for AI, you need Diploma in relevant stream i.e., CSE/IT. But in private Universities, you can get the lateral admission in B.Tech CSE after Diploma in Mechanical. After one year, you can choose the AI&ML as specialisation. LPU or Chandigarh Universities can be the good option for lateral admission.
