The difficulty level of CUET might vary with different slots. CUET follows a normalisation process in order to make the exam fair for everyone. Candidates with the higher difficulty level set get additional marks in the normalisation process. On the other hand candidates who had the easier difficulty level set of exam paper may lose marks. With the massive number of candidates appearing for the exam, the competition level is very high.

For every incorrect answer in the TANCET exam, 1/4 mark is deducted from the total score. This negative marking system is meant to discourage random guessing. Candidates need to be cautious while attempting questions they are unsure about, as each wrong answer reduces their overall score. Candidates are advised to attempt only those questions where they are confident about the correct choice. The penalty applies uniformly across all sections and questions, so careful reading and solving is necessary to avoid losing marks.
