Options include fashion designer, garment technologist, textile merchandiser, apparel production manager, and costume designer. Given the city's textile strength, production and merchandising roles are especially common. Some graduates move into styling or freelance design work too. Higher studies at NIFT or abroad is another path some take. Local export houses in Tiruppur often hire directly. Career direction really depends on your specialisation in college.

Not even close. Courses cover textile science, garment construction, costing, marketing, and even sustainability in fashion. There's a lot of technical and business knowledge involved. Many students are surprised by how much math and planning is actually required.

No, that's a myth! Most private Pune colleges have their own entrance tests or accept portfolio-based admissions. NIFT is just one route, mainly for the government institute. So even if you don't crack NIFT, you still have solid options in Pune.
