you can go for diploma in fashion designing in any gov. polytechnic or state textile institute. nift also offers 1 year diploma programme.
however a degree programme is better as it fully prepares you on the basis of the industry needs and gives you a complete education in not only design and execution but also in communication.
one more thing is that. you can go for a degree programme in nift directly in 2nd year , that is from 4th semester if you go for lateral entry after your diploma in designing. this will help you even more and strengthen your designs.

i would like to suggest you nift if u solely want to go for fashion as it's the leading institute for fashion studies in india.
it has collaboration with fit, new york and you can do an exchange programme for 6 months and can get a dual degree from both nift and fit.
nift includes various courses like fashion designing, life-style and acessory designing,textile, knitwear,leather ,fashion communication and bf.tech.
