Yes an M.Ed from IGNOU is totally valid. IGNOU is a recognised university in India and its programs are approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Distance Education Bureau (DEB). 

This makes the degrees from IGNOU legitimate for multiple purposes like further studies, employment and professional advancement in the education sector. It has national as well as international recognition as well.

IGNOU provides study material in both online and offline mode. Students applying for admission can choose the mode to receive the study material. Students are not charged anything for the material. In case student opts for hard copy, they receive the study material by post within a few weeks of applying for admission. The online study material is available on the official website of the university for students to download the same.

Since IGNOU is an open university model, the usual cutoff system is not followed for the M.A. program in Economics. In general, admission to the M.A. course in Economics is based on the merit basis, considering specific eligibility criteria.

IGNOU Regional Centre Ahmedabad has the refund policy. If in case, a learner wants to cancel his admission prior to confirmation of the same, all the fees are refunded. On confirmation, the refunds are available within certain time frames:

  • 15 working days: refund after deduction of INR 500.
  • 16-90 days: Refund upon deduction of INR  1000.
  • No refund can be allowed 90 days post.
