IIT Madras BTech admission is based on the JEE Main, followed by the JEE Advanced score. The centralised counselling process is managed and regulated by the JoSAA, based on which candidates are allotted seats. The seat allotment is based on the institute cut-off and a candidate's preference for courses and colleges. IIT Madras BTech course admissions are based on JEE Advanced and JEE Main scores. For admission to the flagship BTech programmes, candidates are selected based on their valid JEE-Advanced and JEE Main scores and ranks followed by the JoSAA counselling process. On the successful completion of the counselling process, the candidates are selected for the final seat allotment after the verification of documents and the tuition fee payment

Identified as an 'Institute of Eminence', the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras or IITM) was established in 1959 as a public technical and research university. It is the third IIT to be set up by the Government of India and is autonomous in nature. The institute recently launched the country's first online BSc Programme in Programming in Data Science. Taking the last-round cutoff 2024 into consideration, the JEE Advanced cutoffs were more competitive for the EWS category students. CSE was the most desirable BTech specialisation with first and last-round closing ranks of 41 and 42, respectively. The second most competitive course was Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics, followed by Electrical Engineering with a closing cutoff of 104 and 178, respectively.
