IIT Madras creates a special academic committee. After the initial IIT JAM 2024 answer keys are published, candidates will have the opportunity to raise objections. The committee of experts will study any objections, and will announce results once an objection is made within the timeframe allowed. Candidates can also submit files as proof when submitting their objection.

The policies for the IIT JAM exam often ban candidates from wearing caps or hats when sitting in the exam hall. Making sure the examination is fair and secure is the purpose of this policy. While there may be no cap or hat policy written on the IIT JAM examination instructions, the general dress code may state 'no head coverings', in order to be free of suspicion of hiding cheating devices and for any obstruction of view the examiners may not be aware of. There have some serious consequences when bringing prohibited items to take any IIT JAM exams:
Disqualification from the Exam: You can be disqualified from the exam, meaning your test could be taken away from you, and you could leave the examination room with the exam immediately invalidated.
Seizure of Items: Any prohibited item found on your person will be taken from you by the exam officials.
Possibly Criminal Action: Depending upon the item and the terms of the examination centre, in some cases bringing a prohibited item may incur some form of charges.
