Percentage required for MEXT scholarships in Japan are as follows:

  • Minimum 80% in X, XI and XII for undergraduate admissions.
  • Minimum 70% in undergraduate courses for postgraduate or doctoral courses admissions.
  • Minimum percentage will vary with Japanese and Technology College students.

Merely qualifying with the minimum percentagescore does not ensure the MEXT scholarship. Applicans have to also fulfil the age criteria.

With its low acceptance rate of 10%, Tokyo Tech is among the most difficult universities in Japan to get into. The institute is very selective of students for admission to its highly rewarding coursework. Hence, students with a good track record of academic qualifications in a similar field may expect to get selected at the university.

Tokyo University is selective and competitive for any course so students need to score high in academics and must have extra curriculars to show as part of their profile. Along with that, students must fulfill eligibility requirements set by university. Students must submit some required documents such as university transcripts, LOR, CV, video and timed writing reflection and TOEFL or IELTS scores.
