Hello, Yes, you can definitely apply and appear for JEE Mains. But for admission in NITs/IIITs and GFTIs you must have 75% in boards (65% for SC ST) as per the eligibility criteria. However you can secure admission in other private colleges through JEE Mains examination and you can get any branch of your choice based on your rank.

Class 12 marks have no weightage in the preparation of JEE Main ranks. But for the college eligibility criteria, a candidate must have passed the 10+2 examination or its equivalent with at least 75% marks (or be in the top 20 percentile in the respective board) in the qualifying examination. This includes the marks obtained in both theory and practical exams.

If we go by the trends
The JEE mains cut off for general category male student goes upto 85000
For OBC male candidates the rank can go to 1.5 Lac
There is further more reservation for SC/ST candidates and female students.
If you want a branch of your choice make sure your rank is decent and falls below 80000.
If your rank is falling in this range and you are willing to take admission in GBPUAT then apply for the online counselling conducted by the Uttarakhand Technical University and grab your seat here.
