KTH offers a Swedish language and culture course to all international students enrolled in a graduate course in their first year. Students need not pay any additional fees in order to participate, nor they receive any credits. Apart from this, there is a distance-learning Swedish course also known as Learning Swedish which is available for free of cost for all international students. Students must enrol in any of these courses so as to build basic language skills to blend with the community.

KTH Royal Institute of Technology does offer housing assistance in Stockholm but there are no on-campus housing options available. This service is limited due to high demand so the students are advised to apply as early as possible. Students must follow the steps below to apply for an accommodation:

  •  Student must submit an online form, further he will receive a confirmation mail with a link attached to the registration homepage.

Last date to apply for KTH Scholarship is January 15, 2026. The applications will open on December 1, 2025. Students who are already enrolled in a Masters programme at KTH are eligible to apply to this scholarship. Students will be selected on the basis of following criteria:

  • Student's GPA

  • University rank from where the student completed bachelor's degree

  • Extracurricular research experiences, work experience, teaching experience, awards from any competitions and extracurricular activities will be considered

Yes, KTH university offers four types of scholarships which include KTH Scholarship, KTH One-Year Scholarship, KTH Joint Programme Scholarship and KTH India Scholarship. Indian students are eligible to apply to all four of them but KTH India Scholarship is a kind that is available to only Indian students. The details for KTH India Scholarship are as follows:

  • Covers 100% tuition fee

  • Application opens - December 1, 2025

  • Application Deadline - January 15, 2026

  • Must be enrolled in KTH and an Indian citizen with a UG degree from India

Yes, studying at KTH Royal Institute of Technology is usually considered expensive for Indian students. Undergraduate courses, except for architecture, cost SEK 423,000 (INR 38.6 L), whereas graduate courses cost SEK 360,000 (INR 32.8 L). Apart from this, the monthly cost of living ranges between SEK 9,450 - 12,350 (INR 86.2K - 1.2L). This includes housing, food, public transportation and personal expenses.

KTH Royal Institute is one of the top 100 universities in the world. Shiksha Popularity Ranking has ranked the university at #4 at the national level and #89 at the global level. QS World University ranking ranked the university at #78, showing a decline in graph when compared with previous year rankings. THE (Times Higher Education) ranked the university #95 in 2025 and #97 in 2024. ARWU rankings are #201. Apart from this, US News has also ranked the university at #252 in 2025 and #251 in 2024. The change in yearly rankings could be because of many factors. Different ranking bodies have a different ranking criteria.
