Hi Siddh, for the B.Tech you have to appear for the JEE Mains as well as the entrance exam of the college in which you are planning to seek admission. But for lateral entry some colleges might ask you to appear for exam or might give you admission without taking any exam. All it depends upon the colleges. Also the exams might be different for both of them.

The eligibility for lateral entry B.Tech programme in Mechanical is:
Pass with 50% aggregate marks in ITI (in Technical field) 1 year/ 2 years Certificate course after 10th or 2 years Diploma from SLIET or 10+2 Vocational (in Technical field) or 10+2 (Non-Medical) or equivalent from any recognised Board/ Council. However you can avail or increase your scholarship by writing LPU NEST.

I am not aware of this College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University but recent NIRF rankings released by MHRD depicts once that LPU is a consistent and really a premier university of India with top placement records and world class infrastructure.
